All the time, we’ll be looking for the best wildlife experiences, before we depart for another Tanzanian gem, the incomparable crater of Ngorongoro, on the lookout for a black rhino. You will be greeted at the airport by your guides and transferred to your lodge. Here you will be received by local Tanzanian’s and enjoy relaxing accommodations after your long day(s) of travel.

** When coming from the United States, we highly recommend coming one day earlier due to the travel time it takes to get to east Africa.  You could choose to relax on day 1 or if you would like to explore Arusha on

Dinner inclusive

Tarangire National Park is an excellent site for both birds and mammals. The highlights of the day are searching for the Tanzanian endemics here that will include the Rufous Tailed Weaver and Ashy Sterling as well as the Yellow-collard Love Bird. The mammal list here includes herds of elephants and cape buffalos as well as a number of plains animals.  If we are lucky, we should encounter a leopard, cheetah and a lion pride. The park gets its name from the Tarangire River that threads its way through the length of the reserve. It is famous for its dense wildlife population. After the excitement day in the park, we will drive to our lodge for dinner.

Overnight at Lake Burunge Tented lodge.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive

Lake Manyara National Park offers an incredible introduction to the enormous Birding Safari Tanzania. More than 400 species of birds inhabit the park and many remain throughout the year. Because of this, the park is a good spot for bird watching. Also, for tourist visiting for the first time to Africa can expect to see about 100 bird species in just a single day.

Some of the famous bird species include thousands of flamingos, together with other big birds such as storks, pelicans, and cormorants. From the beginning of November to the end of April, you will be able to see a large variety of migratory birds here.

Overnight at Ngorongoro Farm House.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive.

The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the major attractions that visitors are interested in when visiting the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Gazing on the sight below from the rim of the caldera, you will be amazed at the wildlife when you actually make your way to the crater floor  – it is like nowhere else in the world!  Bird species add to the mix of the wild safaris in Tanzania, and if you are a birder, the Ngorongoro Crater will not disappoint. Presently, more than 500 species of birds call the Ngorongoro Crater their home. Among them, you will see the Black–winged Stilt, and the Red- knobbed Coot, Hotten Tot Teal and Common Moorhen around the Soda Lakes.

Overnight Ngorongoro Farm House.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive.

Ngorongoro Ndutu forms part of the western section of Ngorongoro Conservation Area and stretches to the unfenced southern reaches of the Serengeti National Park, a meeting point between these two incredible wilderness areas. This section of the park is made up of rolling grasslands peppered with alkaline lakes as well as acacia woodlands. The best months to visit the Ndutu Region are from December, when the Great Migration herds start to arrive from the north, until April when the millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle have trekked northwards again. For bird lovers this is a paradise for birds all year around especially for the critically endangered White-headed Vulture and Hooded Vulture, and endangered species the Gray-breasted Spurfowl, Martial Eagle and the near threatened Gray-crested Helmeted Shrike.

Overnight at Ndutu Safari Lodge

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive

Serengeti National Park birds are distributed across the open savannas of the park. The Serengeti has different habitats which is conducive to the wide range of bird species found in the park. The Serengeti Biodiversity Program has recorded 540 species of birds. In particular, keep your eyes open for the ‘Serengeti specials’- bird species endemic to the region- the Grey-breasted Spurfowl, Abyssinian Wheatear, Red-throated Tit, and Schalow's Turaco.     Other birds you might recognize and try to find are the Secretary Bird, African Fish Eagle, Fischer's Lovebird and many vulture species.

Overnight at Kubu Kubu Tented Camp

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive

Kogatende Area (Northern Serengeti) is normally packed full of action from July to October as massive herds cross the Mara River. You will experience prime wildlife viewing during the Great Migration as different animals from small to large are abundant and full of life during this time of year. River crossing is at its height in August and lasts until September. The mega herds move non-stop as they follow the rain, and head to greener pastures. Predators are year around and Kogatende is another paradise for birds with species like Wattled Lapwing and Sooty Chat, we also have near threatened species like the Curlew Sandpiper and Denham’s Bustard.

Overnight at Mara Mara Tented Camp

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive

Lake Natron is regarded as the world’s largest breeding lake for flamingos.  It lies within the Great Rift Valley, close to the Kenya border and is at the base of “The Mountain of God” or Ol Doinyo Lengai.  Ol Doinyo Lengai is an active volcano to the south of Lake Natron.  More than 2.5 million Lesser Flamingos are born here during the month of September, and this makes the lake a top hot spot for birders. Lake Natron is home of other birds like Black-chested Snake-Eagle, Verreaux's Eagle, Pearl-spotted Owlet, African Spoonbill, and the Little Bittern.  For the history buffs, walk to hominid footprints within the Lake Natron Concession Area. Researchers have catalogued this spectacularly rare find of well-preserved human footprints that were left in the mud between 5,000 and 19,000 years ago. No other site in Africa has as many ancient Homo sapiens footprints, making it a treasure trove for scientists trying to tell the story of humankind’s earliest days.

Overnight Lake Natron Safari Camp

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive

Engikaret or Lark Plain is probably the most famous birding spot in East Africa, famed for its and endangered Spike-heeled Lark. Other birds that inhabit this arid area include the Athi-short-toed Lark, the Red-throated Tit and the Short-tailed Lark.

Overnight River Tree In

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive

If your flight leaves later in the day, your guide could take you to the Cultural History Museum, local market and the Maasai Market.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive

You will be picked up from the Inn to go to Materuni Village. Upon arrival you will register at the village office and your excursion will begin. First you will visit the waterfalls, which are around a 40-minute walk away. On the way, your guide will inform you about the culture of the Chagga (a local tribe that lives along the escarpment of Mount Kilimanjaro).  You will learn about village life and gain an understanding of how they depend on and live with the surrounding fauna and flora. The views are truly breathtaking, and with some luck you will see the summit of Kilimanjaro. When you reach the waterfalls, you will see that they are more than 80 meters high. The pool at the bottom of the waterfall is an inviting place for a refreshing swim so don‘t forgets your swimwear!. After having enjoyed the scenery, you slowly return with your guide to Materuni Village, where you will experience a traditional Chagga lunch. You also will have the opportunity to taste our local banana beer – definitely not to be missed! But that’s not all. Next the coffee experience awaits you. Here you will learn how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted and further processed. You will also be invited to help with the grinding of the coffee, which is traditionally accompanied by Chagga songs and dances - a fun way to immerse yourself in the local culture. Before you say goodbye, you can savor the coffee you made and appreciate the views of the surrounding rainforest.

Overnight Kaliwa Lodge for overnight.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive

Mkomazi (which means “little water”) is home to over 400 species of birds.  It borders Kenya’s Tsavo West National Park in northeastern Tanzania.  Mkomazi was commissioned as a game reserve in 1951 but was established as a National Park in 2008.  One of the most interesting birds seen in Mkomazi is the Friedmann's Lark. Not much is known about them. There are only three locations where they have ever been observed: in southern Ethiopia, central Kenya, and on the Kenya-Tanzania border. In the latter case, it was within a small area that included Mkomazi. The Friedmann's Lark prefers shrub thickets, but not in arid areas. In Tanzania, it was spotted during the rainy season. This bird is considered very shy - it would be great luck to find it in the national park.  Other birds you will likely see include the Vulturine Guineafowl, Palm-nut Vulture, and the Northern and Southern Carmine and Bee-eaters.

After some birding in the morning, you will visit a ranger station for a briefing on the conservation efforts for the black rhinos and wild dogs. You will then visit the Kimisa Sanctuary where you will get to spend time observing these rare animals.

After breakfast we drive back to Kilimanjaro (JRO) for your further travel plans. Welcome again for 15-Days birding safari in Tanzania with us
