You will be greeted at the airport by your guides and transferred to your lodge ready for the Wildebeest Migration in Tanzania. Here you will be received by local Tanzanian’s and enjoy relaxing accommodations after your long day(s) of travel via your program which is Wildebeest Migration in Tanzania.

** When coming from the United States, we highly recommend coming one day earlier due to the travel time it takes to get to east Africa. You could choose to relax on day 1 or if you would like, you could explore Arusha with a guide.

Lake Manyara National Park is known for its diverse ecology, landscapes and of course the alkaline lake.  More than 400 species of birds inhabit the park and many remain throughout the year. Because of this, Lake Manyara National Park is a good spot for bird watching.  The park is also home to leopards, Maasai lions, cheetahs, elephants, blue monkeys, dik-dik, gazelles, hippos, Maasai giraffes, impala, and zebras.  There is a hippo pond at one end of the park where visitors can get out of their cars and observe from a safe distance. The leopards and lions are both known to lounge in the trees while not hunting for prey.

Overnight at Ngorongoro Farm House.

After breakfast, you will continue into the 600 meters deep unbroken caldera, and you will have a moment to take in the fantastic, awe-inspiring views of the collapsed volcano. Then you will descend into the caldera for a game drive. Over 25,000 mammals such as spotted hyenas and the “Big Five” – elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard and lion being part of them. You will enjoy lunch at a picnic spot inside the crater. After lunch, you will continue the game drive and in the afternoon drive to back for overnight.

Overnight at Ngorongoro Farm House.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive

After breakfast you will set out on a drive towards the Oldupai Gorge. The site is significant in showing the increasing developmental and social complexities in the earliest humans (hominids).  The collecting of tools and animal remains in a central area is evidence of developing social interaction and communal activity. All these factors indicate increase in cognitive capacities at the beginning of the period of hominids transitioning to hominins—that is, to human—form and behavior.

Overnight Lake Masek Tented Lodge.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive

Today the game drive in the Central Serengeti (Serengeti National Park) will start early in the morning after breakfast since it is when most of the cats are active. During the dry season, the Central Serengeti is known for being the home of carnivores due to the Seronera River which serves as the main water source for all animals. The river attracts crocodiles and hippos too…. You never know what you might encounter!  We will have a picnic lunch in the park and return to the camp in the late afternoon for some down time.  You may choose to relax or join your guide on an evening game drive before dinner.

Overnight at Signature Serengeti Luxury Tented Camp.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive

Kogatende Area (Northern Serengeti) is normally packed full of action from July to October as massive herds cross the famous Mara River. You will experience prime wildlife viewing during the Great Migration as different animals from small to large are abundant and full of life during this time of year. River crossing is at its height in August and lasts until September. The mega herds move non-stop as they follow the rain, and head to greener pastures. Predators, including the famous river crocodiles, are very active.

Overnight at Serengeti River Camp

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive

Early morning you will set out on another game drive in the Serengeti before driving to Kogatende Airstrip for your 2 hour flight back to Arusha.

Overnight at River Tree Inn

Breakfast, lunch, dinner inclusive

After check out time, if you have enough time before your flight, your guide will take you to the Cultural Heritage Museum to explore about the African traditions and you can get lunch at the museum restaurant before driving to the Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) for your flight home. The end of 10-Days Wildebeest Migration in Tanzania
